5 Week Handbuilding Course

Starts week commencing 10th August!

Course Information:

Spend five weeks exploring hand-built ceramics in a relaxed and creative studio environment. This course focuses on functional pottery and teaware, with projects including cups, jugs, creamers, teapots, and other vessel forms.

Across five consecutive weekly sessions, you’ll learn a range of hand-building techniques including slab building, coiling, and pinch construction, alongside approaches to handles, spouts, lids, and assembling more complex forms. The course will also introduce a variety of decorative and surface techniques such as carving, texture, slips, and creative glazing.

Suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced students, the course offers structured guidance for those new to clay while also allowing returning or confident makers the freedom to develop their own projects with as much or as little support as needed.

Participants will also learn about firing, glazing, and the different stages involved in making finished ceramics.

All materials and firings are included in the course fee.

Students enrolled on the course will also have access to additional studio time through optional drop-in sessions running throughout the duration of the course. For more information, click the link below.

Materials and firings for up to 12 pots are included. Extra pots will be charged at £3 per pot.
