Course Information:

This course is designed to guide you through all the essential techniques needed to make functional pottery on the wheel — including mugs, bowls, dishes, and more.

We’ll start with the foundations:

  • Preparing your clay properly

  • Getting comfortable with the potter’s wheel

  • Good posture and wheel setup

  • Centering, pulling even walls, and shaping your pots

You’ll also learn how to trim (turn) your pieces and decorate your surfaces using slips and glazes.

Along the way, your tutor will demonstrate extra techniques and is always happy to take requests — if there’s something you’re keen to make, just ask!

Past projects include:

  • Chip & dip platters

  • Candlestick holders

  • Lemon juicers

  • Dog bowls

  • Pasta bowls

(What you make will depend on your individual ability — we’ll adjust the projects to suit where you’re at.)

What to bring:

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Important: Trim your fingernails short, tie back any long hair, and remove any jewellery from your hands.

Each weekly session is 2.5 hours long, consisting of 2 hours of making and 30 minutes for team clean-up.

Please ensure you can attend most, if not all, of the sessions before booking. If you miss a class, we will do our best to catch you up in the next session. Unfortunately, we cannot swap days as all classes are at full capacity.

All tools, equipment, and aprons are provided.

In addition to our regular weekly classes, we offer weekly "drop-in" sessions for you to catch up or practice your ceramic skills. These can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance and run throughout the week during term time.

By booking you agree to our T&C’s

*Non-attendance:

Please ensure you can make all of the classes before booking. We cannot swap your days once you have booked in.

No food or drink is allowed in the studio for health and safety reasons.

We bring our friendly dog to the studio, so please consider if that’s something you are comfortable with when booking.
