Pottery Wheel Throwing Course

12-Week Intermediate Wheel Throwing

Price: £450 per person (Includes all materials, glazing, and firing)

Next Term: Starts week commencing 22nd April 2026

Schedule: Wednesdays 6:30pm-9:00pm or Sundays 1:30-4:00pm

Course Overview

This intensive course is designed for more experienced potters in our Salford studio. Unlike many studios, your fee covers the glazing and firing of up to 16 pieces, allowing you to build a substantial body of work without extra costs.

What You’ll Master The curriculum is flexible and tailored to the group. Topics include:

  • Throwing larger weights (1kg+) with production techniques

  • Complex forms: Bottle shapes, closed forms, and lidded jars

  • Thrown and altered forms, butter dishes and bakers

  • Sectional throwing for large-scale moon jars and vases

  • Handle pulling, slip decoration, and trimming

Course Structure

  • Duration: 12 weeks of tuition (split into two blocks with a break in the middle)

  • Format: Each session includes 2 hours of making time and 30 minutes of communal clean-up.

Prerequisites:

This course is for "Improvers" who have completed at least 6 weeks of consistent training and can comfortably throw a 1kg cylinder.

What to Bring

  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you don't mind getting messy.

  • Required: Short fingernails, hair tied back, and no hand jewellery.

  • Attendance: We cannot offer date swaps. If you miss a session, we will help you catch up during the next class.
