Pottery Wheel Throwing Course
£450 per person, all materials and firings included

Term starts: 28th September 2025
Class dates: 28th Sept, 5th 12th 19th 26th Oct, 2nd 16th 23rd 30th Nov, 7th 14th 21st Dec
Structure: 6 weeks of classes, then 1-week break, then 6 more weeks (follows school calendar)
Total: 12 weeks of classes over 13 weeks
Course Information: This intermediate course guides you through advanced wheel throwing techniques with a flexible curriculum. All materials included, plus glazing and firing of up to 16 items (other potteries charge per piece!). Additional pots can be fired for a small fee to cover materials and firing.
Prerequisites: We recommend you've completed a longer course (6+ weeks) and can comfortably throw 2lb+ cylinders. Not sure? Drop us an email!
What You'll Learn:
Throwing larger amounts of clay with proper body positioning
Production pottery techniques for large forms
Thrown & altered forms, baking dishes & lidded jars
Bottle and closed forms
Sectional throwing of moon jars/vases
Proper handle pulling techniques for mugs and jugs, plus making lugs
Turning/trimming and surface decoration with slips and glazes
Plus any techniques you request - the curriculum is flexible!
We plan the curriculum together as a group at the start of each term to ensure we cover the projects you want to learn.
What to Bring:
Comfortable clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty
Important: Trim fingernails short, tie back long hair, remove hand jewellery
Class Details:
Each session: 2.5 hours (2 hours creating + 30 minutes team clean-up)
Please ensure you can attend most sessions before booking - we'll catch you up if you miss a class, but cannot swap days as all classes are at capacity
All tools, equipment, and aprons provided
Bonus Opportunities: Access to our regular drop-in sessions for extra practice throughout the course (£15 for 3 hours). Book up to 6 weeks in advance - these run throughout the week during term time.
