FAQ’s
How can I book a class?
Please head over to the Classes dropdown menu above to see what types of classes we offer. On the item pages you will find information, entry requirements (if any), class times and prices.
To see what is currently available click “Book Now” to be taken to the booking area, it will show which classes currently have space.
If no classes are available because they are sold out, there will be a ‘sorry no dates available’ message. If so, please sign up to our newsletter at the bottom of this page to find out when our new classes are released.
How do I collect my pots?
If one month has passed since you did your taster class / glazed your own pots then they will be ready! Just come during one of our drop-in sessions to collect - this guarantees someone will be working in the studio at the time you arrive.
Check the drop in times here.
You don’t need to email us to arrange collection, just make sure you’ve left enough time for us to fire your pots!
We will keep your pots for a maximum of 2 months from the date of your class, after this date they will be disposed of to make space in our classroom.
Do you do pottery painting?
Sadly we do not, we focus mainly on handbuilding, throwing, slip decoration and glazing - so pottery from start to finish!
We are a cosy studio run by 2 practicing ceramic artists, who trained as art teachers and decided to set up our own pottery school, therefore we focus on the sculptural, wheel throwing and surface decoration techniques of pottery which is where our passions lie. Find out more about us here.
We have considered running pottery painting but decided to focus on more technical and educational aspects of pottery instead, which is more rewarding to us!
There are a number of pottery painting studios around in Manchester, Stockport and Chorlton if you wish to paint pre-made bisque.
Do you do childrens’ classes?
We sadly don’t currently run kid-friendly classes, due to the nature of pottery studios and the heavy equipment we have, our studio is not child-safe. We also value our space as an oasis of calm for grown-ups to escape the stresses of day-to-day life, so enjoy having the space quiet & child free (sorry!).
We recommend heading over to Clay Studio in Stretford who already run family ceramics sessions, or Brooklyn Pottery in Stockport who do pottery painting for all ages.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Yes we are! We now have ground floor ramp access, and access to ground floor toilets. You may need a little assistance to get to these as there are some factory-style door fittings roughly 10cm across the bottom of the door frames. We are happy to help with any access requirements so please don’t hesitate to ask us questions to help you feel more comfortable!
Can I just show up and make a pot?
Sorry no, due to demand we only operate classes that are bookable in advance. However please check ClassBento here for our current availability as we may have some One-Off classes running that might be suitable for you!
Alternatively please head to the Classes dropdown menu (above) to see what we have on offer.
Do you have parking facilities?
Yes! We have a small number of spaces right outside our studio on the forecourt, and there is free on-street parking nearby, along Oldfield Road https://goo.gl/maps/82stTCZEAp1yciTc9
I am a complete beginner, what courses can I do?
Lucky for you, all of our courses are suitable for complete beginners! Due to the courses being in high demand, you may not get on one the first time round but don’t sweat because we run 2hr taster sessions every Sunday with much more chance of you getting a place.
You can also sign up to our Waiting List should places become available due to cancellations.
When can I collect my pots?
Our collection slot is Saturdays term-time, from 11am to 4pm, and Mondays term-time 6pm-8pm.
To check term times head over to our Opening Times page from the dropdown above.
Do you do pottery painting?
We’re afraid not, we offer the physical side of working with clay such as handbuilding and throwing. For painting please check out Brooklyn Pottery in Stockport or Pottery Corner in Chorlton.
