Slips & Slabs with Camille Biddell
8 Places Available
2-Day Workshop
30–31 August 202510:30am–4:30pm (includes 1-hour break)
£180Suitable for all levels
In this hands-on two-day workshop with potter and Clay College graduate Camille Biddell, you'll explore slip printing onto clay using plaster moulds, and turn your printed slabs into unique hand-built forms.
With a range of textured and plain moulds available, you’ll experiment with layering slip, using paper stencils, stamps, roulettes, and slip trailing to add depth and texture to your work.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own texture ideas—anything that could be translated onto clay surfaces or used to create custom stamps.
Over the course of the workshop, you’ll create a variety of pieces, from flatware like soap dishes to upright forms such as mugs and jugs.
Each participant can choose two pieces to be clear-glazed and kiln-fired by 7 Spot Pottery staff. Additional raw pots can be taken home for finishing, with a small fee to cover clay costs.
Fired pieces will be ready to collect approximately 4 weeks after the session.
Workshop Schedule:
Day 1
- Use textured moulds to print slip onto clay slabs
- Cut and form initial shapes: soap dishes, mugs, jugs
- Create your own stamps and roulettes for texturing
Day 2
- Assemble upright forms using previous day's slabs
- Explore additional surface decoration using flat plaster batts for slip trailing and printing.
- Add detail with stamps, roulettes, and stencils.
