Course information:

This course offers a relaxed, hands-on ceramics experience for all skill levels, with a balance of wheel throwing and hand-building projects to keep things varied and creative.

If you’re an experienced potter, you’re welcome to work on personal projects with tutor support.
If you're keen to master the potter’s wheel, we recommend our 12-week Beginners Throwing Course for a more focused deep dive into throwing skills.

Our curriculum changes every 12 weeks to keep things fresh, interesting, and inspiring — perfect for returning students who want to keep learning and experimenting.

What we will cover:

  • Throwing basic forms: cylinders, bowls, handles, and trimming

  • Soft and hard slab hand-building techniques

  • Dug-out method (kurinuki) and agateware (nerikomi)

  • Pinch pots, coil pots, and creative variations

  • Slip decoration, underglazes, and surface design techniques

  • Plus extra methods and projects selected by your tutors

Feel free to request demonstrations or share your ideas and sketches!
