Course Information:

As this course is for beginners, you will be guided through the techniques needed to make functional pottery.

We will focus on the fundamental aspects of throwing pots, starting with preparing clay, familiarity with potters wheels and good posture, centring, pulling even walls, and finishing pots on the wheel.

You will also learn how to turn/trim pots, basic decoration techniques and simple slip decoration.

Our courses are for those who want to learn skills and refine their craft over time, therefore we encourage quality over quantity! Ceramic that is fired will last for 10,000s of years, so for environmental reasons we encourage you to refine and quality control your items to produce the best quality items possible.

Materials and firings for up to 12 pots are included. Extra pots will be charged at £3 per pot.

What to bring:

Please bring your own hand towel. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting mucky.

PLEASE trim your fingernails short and tie any long hair back, also remove any jewellery from hands.
